Rental Vehicle Insurance

About

All vehicles rented on behalf of UNCG business by approved UNCG employees/drivers are insured by Travelers Insurance Company with liability limits of $1,000,000 per person and $10,000,000 per accident and physical damage limits up to $750,000 per accident. Any insurance offered by the rental company cannot be accepted and/or paid for with State funds, with the exception that vehicles rented outside of the United States may add the insurance due to international laws being so different and making it difficult to offer insurance for global coverage per NCDOI.

All vehicles meeting the following criteria must be reported to Enterprise Risk Management prior taking control of the vehicle by calling 336.256.1102 or emailing risk@uncg.edu.  The vehicle year, make, model, vehicle identification number (VIN), color, and license plate number will be required.

• 15 passenger vans
• If under 10,000 gvw with value over $40,000
• If over 10,000 gvw with value over $60,000

An insurance card and/or certificate of insurance (COI) can be presented to the rental company at the time of pick-up.
